Doug Windley from Carolina (soon to be a member of this Forum) pointed this one out to me.
Interestingly it is believed that many of the African Americans who currently reside along the costal plains of North Carolina are descendents from a Windley slave plantation and it was customary to take the slave owners last name. Be interesting to see if we can get this one confirmed.

Hi all, I was born down in Miami, Fla. and had visited Windley Key quiet ofton. My Father Don Windley and my step mother were married on the island also. But I don't know the history behind it's name.
